Paw Paw River Watershed

Blue Creek

The Blue Creek Sub Watershed is a mix of High (river corridor) and Medium Priority Protection Areas. The high and medium priority areas, if not preserved or at least managed properly, have the potential to contribute large amounts of pollution, as well as disrupt hydrologic patterns in the watershed.

Chase Lake - Brandywine Creek

The Chase Lake-Brandywine Creek Sub Watershed is a High Priority Agricultural Management Area and suspected to contain most of the agricultural related pollutant sources impairing or threatening water quality in the area.

Headwaters

The Headwaters Sub Watershed is a mix of High (river corridor) and Medium Priority Protection Areas, if not preserved or at least managed properly, have the potential to contribute large amounts of pollution, as well as disrupt hydrologic patterns in the watershed.

Mill Creek

Much of the Mill Creek Sub Watershed is a High Priority Agricultural Management Area and suspected to contain most of the agricultural related pollutant sources impairing or threatening water quality in the area.

Paw Paw Lake

The area around Paw Paw Lake in the Paw Paw Lake Sub Watershed is a High Priority Urban Management Area and suspected to contain most of the urban related pollutant sources impairing or threatening water quality in this area.

Brush Creek

The eastern two thirds of the Brush Creek Sub Watershed is classified as a Medium Priority Protection Area. The high and medium priority areas, if not preserved or at least managed properly, have the potential to contribute large amounts of pollution, as well as disrupt hydrologic patterns in the watershed.

East Branch

Most of the East Branch Sub Watershed is classified as a High Priority Protection Area. The high and medium priority areas, if not preserved or at least managed properly, have the potential to contribute large amounts of pollution, as well as disrupt hydrologic patterns in the watershed.

Hog Creek

The Hog Creek Sub Watershed is a High Priority Protection Area along the river corridor, if not preserved or at least managed properly, this area may have the potential to contribute large amounts of pollution, as well as disrupt hydrologic patterns in the watershed.

Mud Lake Drain

The Mud Lake Drain Sub Watershed is a Medium Priority Agricultural Management Area and suspected to contain most of the agricultural related pollutant sources impairing or threatening water quality in the area.

Ryno Drain

The far west end, near Lake Michigan, of the Ryno Drain Sub Watershed is a Medium Priority Protection Area while the river corridor is High. If not preserved or at least managed properly, these areas have the potential to contribute large amounts of pollution, as well as disrupt hydrologic patterns in the watershed.

Cambell Creek - North Branch

Most of the Cambell Creek-North Branch Sub Watershed is classified as a High Priority Protection Area. The high and medium priority areas, if not preserved or at least managed properly, have the potential to contribute large amounts of pollution, as well as disrupt hydrologic patterns in the watershed.

Hayden Creek - North Branch

The Hayden Creek - North Branch Sub Watershed is classified as a High Priority Protection Area. The high and medium priority areas, if not preserved or at least managed properly, have the potential to contribute large amounts of pollution, as well as disrupt hydrologic patterns in the watershed.

Lawton Drain - South Branch

Most of the Lawton Drain - South Branch Sub Watershed is a High Priority Agricultural Management Area and suspected to contain most of the agricultural related pollutant sources impairing or threatening water quality in the area.

Ox Creek

The Ox Creek Sub Watershed is a Medium Priority Protection Area west of the river and High Priority along the river, if not preserved or at least managed properly, these areas have the potential to contribute large amounts of pollution, as well as disrupt hydrologic patterns in the watershed.

South Branch

Most of the southern two thirds of the South Branch Sub Watershed is a High Priority Agricultural Management Area and suspected to contain most of the agricultural related pollutant sources impairing or threatening water quality in the area.

Two Rivers Coalition (TRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting the Black River and Paw Paw River watersheds in Southwest Michigan. We work to improve water quality, wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities through conservation, education, and advocacy. Our efforts include hosting public workshops, forums, and lectures, as well as publishing scientific information and resources to keep the community engaged and informed about the health of our rivers.
