Prothonotary Warbler Partnership
Goal
Our goal for this project is to educate, advocate and help conserve our floodplain forests and all its biodiversity and ecological benefits.
Action Items
-
Create opportunities to experience prothonotary warblers and educate the public on their floodplain forest indicator species status
-
Map our floodplain forests using the warbler's presence (eBird)
-
Advocate for floodplain forest protection.
Paddling to see Prothonotary Warblers
TRC host a paddling event in early June to take paddlers to nest boxes to experience these floodplain forest specialists. Check out our events page for more details. In addition to this paddling event, paddlers can paddle to these nest boxes at will to enjoy these warbelers and river.
Mapping our Floodplain Forests
This map shows data entered into eBird for prothonotary warblers found in the watersheds. The warblers have been found along most of the main stem of the Paw Paw River where floodplain forest have been noted and are a high priority for protection.
