Michigan's E.coli Pollution and Solution Mapper

Explore Michigan’s watersheds like never before with this interactive ArcGIS map, which visualizes how water flows across the landscape, reveals drainage boundaries, and connects rivers like the Paw Paw and Black to larger basin systems feeding Lake Michigan - empowering residents to better understand, protect, and advocate for their local water resources.

This interactive map supports Michigan’s Statewide E. coli TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) by helping users explore potential sources of fecal contamination in rivers, lakes, and beaches. Developed by EGLE, the tool allows communities to evaluate both point and nonpoint pollution sources locally, while emphasizing that identified sources may not impact every water body. The map is a resource for understanding the complexity of E. coli pollution and guiding efforts to reduce contamination across the state.
